Hampshire Living January 2022
Winchester’s celebrity hairstylist and The Hampshire Chronicle’s Hairdresser of the Year Guy Kremer introduces exclusive private wig consultations for cancer patients – and spends the day with a Love Islander!

Let’s hope things will be a bit more straightforward than they have been for the last two years! - Guy Kremer

Christmas was lovely this year, as I drove through the night to get to my home in France for Christmas, and I had great fun decorating the house and making it look beautiful for family and friends.

When I come back, I will start throwing myself into the new year, as we have so much planned for the salon in 2022 – let’s hope things will be a bit more straightforward than they have been for the last two years!

My friend Trevor Sorbie’s mynewhair charity provides help, advice and support to anyone living with the effects of medical hair loss. My mother had cancer and had to wear a wig, so this is something that is very close to my heart.

I have supported mynewhair for years by cutting wigs for free in the salon, but for 2022 we will now be an official centre for supplying wigs for people with hair loss through cancer and alopecia.

Clients are asked to buy the wig, and then we will cut and style it for free. Having styled wigs for many years and seen people bring wigs that really aren’t suitable for them, I have decided to get more involved by helping them choose the right wig at the outset.

They can book a free consultation and we can discuss it in depth.

I am also very happy to do private consultations exclusively on Mondays when the salon is closed, or in the evening after work.

I don’t know anything about Love Island, but when I had the request from The Sun to do Faye Winter’s hair, all the girls in the salon got very excited and insisted I do it.

Then I realised how popular she is, as I had more than 5,000 likes on my Instagram post, which is more than I have ever had before.

She was great fun, very nice to work with, and we had a lovely day. I did three different looks for her; a long, tousled style, then pinned up into a bob, and then a top knot.

For the new year, we are also concentrating on brides, and the salon has set up a new list of bridal packages. The bridal
party can come and have a corded off section of the salon, and we will supply a continental wedding breakfast of coffee, croissants and fruit. We can also do manicures and facials, all in one space. There is a sliding scale, from
silver, gold, platinum to the ultimate, where the hairdresser will go on location and style the bridal party there.
