"Children are becoming much more aware of their neighbours again and understanding the value of love" - Guy Kremer

At both the Winchester and Lymington salons, we have been busy working out how we will operate once the lockdown lifts. In Winchester, we have been using the time when the salon doors are closed to complete our refurbishments and make a few changes to ensure we can all stay safe once some kind of normal life resumes.

Firstly, both the Winchester and Lymington salons will take part in National Hair Sunday on the first weekend after lockdown ends.

This national campaign is designed to show the appreciation of the hairdressing industry to our frontline NHS staff by offering them free treatments and cuts. It will be one of the biggest events in hairdressing and will show all those amazing people how grateful we are for all they do.

Lucy Townsend from The Greyhound in Stockbridge will be laying on a special afternoon tea in the courtyard at the Winchester salon, which will be free for NHS workers. Anyone else is also welcome – we would just ask for a small donation to the NHS.

We have spent time tidying and pressure washing the courtyard outside the salon so everything is clean and fresh, and it looks very beautiful with colourful flowering tubs and hanging baskets. Inside, we have finished the tiling, repainted, and opened up the space to make the salon more open plan, which will help us to keep the proper social distancing
measures in place.

We will be doing some cuts in the courtyard under the canopy – we did this last summer when the weather was so hot – and we will also be asking clients to have their temperature taken and clean their hands at the sanitation station at the front desk to ensure everyone stays safe and well.

Our staff will all wear gloves and masks, and they will use disposable towels, gowns and disinfecting solution on their hairdressing tools. Our Lymington salon will be taking similar measures.

At home, I continue to experience the wonderful kindness of neighbours. Thank you so much to Rose, a little girl in our lane who has spent some of her time in isolation making biscuits for the dogs around her – my little girls loved them!

They were a perfect treat after our daily walk through the beautiful bluebell woods. Children are becoming much more aware of their neighbours again and understanding the value of love and kindness. It means so much.
