It’s been so fabulous to be able to go out for lunch and dinner again and to catch up with everyone – both at home and in the salon, which has been incredibly busy. I caught up with my friend, the wonderful fashion designer Maria Grachvogel, when she was visiting the New Forest. It was so good to see her – we have been friends for more than 25 years. We spent a lovely sunny day in the garden, and I cut her hair for her before she returned to London.
Then it was my turn to go back to London to start styling hair for magazine covers again. This time, I was with Charlie Brooks, who plays Janine Butcher in EastEnders, and is set to make a dramatic return as part of a huge story later this year. She’s a really lovely person, and it was wonderful to be back doing my first cover since the last lockdown.
I did Dame Shirley’s hair when I was working with the haute couture designer Isabell Kristensen, and I was invited to travel with her across the world. We went to Monaco to the Red Cross Ball, and later to Copenhagen for a show she was doing there. It was fabulous to be backstage at her concerts.
Back in the salon, we are run off our feet – especially with people wanting their hair coloured – but it’s so good to be busy again and in a busy, lively atmosphere that feels almost like it used to pre-Covid.
