In recent weeks, I have taken things a little easier as I finally had my eye operation to remove cataracts. I can see much more clearly and it’s wonderful to be able to drive without glasses – I just need them to read now. It’s so much better; it’s given my eyes a new lease of life!
I was meant to judge the semi-final of a competition for L’Oreal, which I couldn’t do because of my operation, but I do love my judging work and am looking forward to more later this year. Judging keeps me up with the latest hair trends and I like to see all the new talent emerging in our industry.
I was also invited to join barrister and fellow Hyde resident Rose Burns for one of her “In Conversation With” talks for the Winchester community group Hyde900, which had to be cancelled due to Covid. The date has been postponed until July, so make a note in your diaries if you’d like to find out about my long career, my celebrity clients, and all the work I do for charities in the area.
The salon is very busy again and we are coming to wedding season.
I’m honoured to have been asked to travel to Italy later this month to style the hair of celebrity hair and make-up artist Genevieve Garner, who is getting married in Florence. She is the daughter of my friend Sarah Doukas, the boss of renowned model agency Storm who has launched the careers of many top models – including Kate Moss. It will be fabulous, and I am delighted to be going.
My photoshoots in London are always a highlight, and I have just finished one with the actress Lisa Hogan, Jeremy Clarkson’s partner and one of the stars of the hit Amazon Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm. He was at the shoot, too, so it was good to meet them both.
I’ve been lucky enough to have styled the hair of so many glamorous women over the years, and many have gone on to become dear friends. I never forget how lucky I am, and I have so many fabulous memories to look back on.
