Hampshire Living September 2020
Winchester’s celebrity hairdresser Guy Kremer is run off his feet as the salon returns to welcome clients, celebrates his birthday, and looks forward to seeing his French home again.

As part of my birthday celebrations, I went to Lime Wood in the New Forest, where we sat on the terrace for lunch. It was so lovely to be back there, and reminded me of last year when we were at the Smoked and Uncut Festival and I met the DJs Nick Grimshaw and Harriet Rose.

Well, it has been the busiest time we have ever had on the salon as our clients and friends pour in to have their hair done after their long period in lockdown. It has been so fabulous to be back and working again – although I didn’t actually get to have much time off, as I spent what time I could in lockdown sorting out the refurbishment of the salon and preparing it for our safe return.

I have been working full time since our reopening as we have seen record numbers coming through the doors. All our staff are wearing face visors or masks, and any clients who are still worried can have their hair cut outside in our beautiful secluded courtyard for extra safety. I am certainly looking forward to getting away to France this month for a break. I haven’t been to my beautiful home high in the hills for seven months, and I am so excited to just chill by the pool, see what the garden is doing, and generally enjoy doing nothing!

Since we last spoke, I have had my birthday, and I celebrated – social-distanced style – in a friend’s garden. I had two of my favourites made for me: a Ferrero Rocher birthday cake from my friend Jeanette, and a delicious blueberry and macadamia tart from Sarah. It was such a treat – like Christmas, Easter and my birthday all in one go! Tai made a wonderful lunch and I was so spoiled. My house and salon were full of flowers from all my dearest friends – there can never be too many for me; I adore them.

My friend Sarah invited me for a swim in her pool, which was wonderful in the glorious sunshine and a good way to work off all that cake – which was just as well, because I then went to the Ivy in Winchester, where I had yet another cake made especially for me! Sarah has invited me back to swim every day, but I haven’t been able to as I have been at the salon from 8am until 7pm every day.

Hopefully, things will start to slow down a bit and I will be able to go again. In the meantime, I have a week to look forward to enjoying my pool in France – I can’t wait!
